Bugenhagen Joins MIR Cardiothoracic Imaging Faculty

Scott M. Bugenhagen, MD, PhD, has joined the cardiothoracic imaging section at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) as an assistant professor.


Bugenhagen’s research focuses on the development of novel mathematically derived algorithms to provide personalized treatment of coronary atherosclerosis. He recently received an RSNA Seed Grant for his project “Absolute Perfusion Reserve: Theory and Measurement of a New Metric for Coronary Lesion Grading.”


Bugenhagen recently completed his cardiothoracic radiology fellowship at MIR, where he also trained for his diagnostic radiology residency and participated in the TOP-TIER T32 residency training program. He earned his medical degree and a doctoral degree in physiology from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
