The Journées Francophones de Radiologie will be held from October 3 to 6, 2025 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris. Each year, the JFR welcomes more than 13,000 participants from all over the French-speaking world and beyond: radiologists, interns, technicians, researchers and industrialists, for four days of training, exchanges, meetings and sharing.
Radiology, the images of a life
If in 2025 radiology is more than ever at the center of patient care, it is the patient who will be at the heart of the Journées Francophones de Radiologie, the patient at every stage of life, at every age of life. These JFR will be resolutely focused on "radiologically vulnerable" patients, those for whom access to radiological care can remain difficult: children and the elderly. Multi-organ radiopediatric and radiogeriatric courses will thus be offered to discover all the specificities of imaging in these patients.
Patient experience in radiology
The JFR will be an opportunity to question what the patient experience in a radiology department is in 2025... "The radiologist at the center of patient care": the formula is only a half-truth if it is not embodied in daily actions. The patient expects a look, attention, words from his radiologist. The radiologist must meet this expectation, at the risk of losing the classic but timeless concept of the doctor-patient relationship, and with it a certain idea of radiology.
More and more simulation
Radiology simulation, a great success of the 2024 edition, will be repeated and expanded in 2025.
At the heart of the Interventional Radiology Village, the simulation space will be practically doubled with an endovascular sector and a percutaneous sector. Every day, congress participants will be able to practice technical procedures on phantoms and virtual flow simulators under the supervision of experts. Within the Ultrasound Village, a simulation space will allow participants to practice gynecological and abdominal ultrasound. Finally, high-fidelity simulation workshops will confront participants with difficult professional situations and give them the keys to deal with them.
Sessions that shake up habits
A number of sessions in an unprecedented format will disrupt the traditionally hushed and studious atmosphere of the Palais des Congrès:
- "Controversies" sessions that will be held in the JFR agora transformed for the occasion into a boxing ring, to host oratorical jousts on controversial subjects. The protagonists will be able to demonstrate a certain pugnacity, and a touch of bad faith will be tolerated!
- "No safety net" clinical case sessions that will put the experts on the grill. The latter will discover the cases live and will have to present their diagnostic approach without waiting for any assistance or outside help.
An open-plan technical exhibition
The JFR 2025 will widely open the technical exhibition to congress participants, in particular to those who are not always used to venturing there, such as radio interns. They will benefit from reserved slots to meet industrial partners and discover innovations, on an exhibition area that is even larger this year. A "Clinical Case Agora" will also be set up at the heart of the technical exhibition in order to infuse clinical radiology into all spaces and thus promote connections between the different players in medical imaging.
Manipulators in the spotlight
These JFRs will pay particular attention to the manipulators who will also have dedicated slots on the technical exhibition. Their training days will now extend from Friday to Monday inclusive in order to encourage interactions with industrial partners and allow all manipulators to attend all the scientific and educational sessions if they wish. On the third floor, the meeting points of the institutional spaces will still be the nerve center of interprofessional exchanges, including with researchers and engineers on the Researchers' Village.
European radiological ecosystems put to the test
Several French-speaking European radiologists will come to share their experience on the major current issues and the challenges for radiology of tomorrow: demography of the profession, initial and continuing training, financialization, teleradiology, patient experience, artificial intelligence, etc. This "European benchmark" will make it possible to inventory the strengths and weaknesses of French radiology, and to reflect collectively on the future of the discipline.
A congress open to civil society
The JFR also aims to speak to citizens, civil society, and the general public. In 2025, the ground floor of the Palais des Congrès will host the exhibition “First Intimacy of Being,” an interactive work on the border between art and science, dedicated to questioning the hidden side of the individual. Participants who risk going “through the mirror” will discover a CT and MRI avatar of themselves that will reveal the inside of their body, and question them about their relationship to intimacy and identity.
Welcome to JFR 2025
Since their birth 130 years ago, X-rays have been traveling through space and time. Every year in October, an enchanted interlude begins where the radiological spirit breathes, four suspended days from which we return changed, imbued with new images, new ideas, new encounters, with a renewed enthusiasm, dynamism and interest in our formidable specialty.
We look forward to seeing many of you at JFR 2025!
