Since its first meeting in 1985, the CIRSE Annual Congress has become the leading European platform for interventionalists. Today it features more than 250 hours of sessions, workshops and symposia. CIRSE offers its over 6,500 participants the ideal opportunity to increase their knowledge on image-guided minimally invasive procedures and to present their latest research findings.

Cirse meets...

The CIRSE meets… programme has proved to be an important platform for establishing and strengthening the relations between CIRSE and its distinguished Group Members – the national societies in the field of Interventional Radiology, as well as other international medical associations. Experts from various regions around the world have provided interesting insights into the current status of Interventional Radiology as well as the state of specific procedures and conditions in their home countries.

CIRSE meets Israel

Interventional radiology has a long history in Israel, and has been in use since the very early days of the specialty, developing in step with the discipline’s blossoming in the USA and Europe.

This academic kinship is long-standing: the late Prof. Alex Rosenberger, one of Israel’s most respected IR pioneers, was one of the founding fathers of CIRSE, as well as being President of the 1986 CIRSE Annual Meeting in Jerusalem.

Established 10 years ago, the Israeli Society of Interventional Radiology (ILSIR) consists of over 55 active members who practice in all fields of IR. These members are spread amongst 21 recognised IR units throughout Israel. About a third of ILSIR members are fellowship trained in the USA, Canada or the UK, and in 2013, a dedicated fellowship in IR was founded.

Several years ago, ILSIR joined the CIRSE family of national societies, and was formally invited by the CIRSE Executive Committee to participate in a CIRSE meets Israel session at CIRSE 2014. This session will showcase some of the most interesting IR research currently being conducted in Israel – as a country that is known for its start-up companies and technical prestige, it comes as no surprise that this session will be devoted to innovations in IR.

Hot Topic Symposia

The Hot Topic Symposia aim to address important IR topics that are current and controversial in the setting of a plenary session.  Invited speakers will give brief lectures on important aspects of the subject under discussion. A major feature of these sessions will be a round table discussion involving the speakers and the audience. At the conclusion of the sessions, the moderator will summarise the discussion and provide take home points.

R.W. Günther Foundation Travel Grants

For the third time, the Rolf W. Günther Foundation for Radiological Sciences is sponsoring the attendance of young European radiologists at the CIRSE annual meeting and postgraduate course. Applications are invited from European residents or fellows in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology for 5 Travel Grants, each worth €500, to attend the CIRSE Congress in Glasgow, UK, Sept 13-17, 2014.

Application period:

April 18 - May 16, 2014

Conditions for application:

1. The applicant should be a radiology resident/fellow from Europe,

2. under the age of 35 and

3. presenting author of a paper or poster accepted for presentation at the CIRSE Congress 2014 (notifications of acceptance/rejection sent out in mid-April, 2014).

4. The grant of €500 is to be used to cover travel expenses and housing.

Applications should include:

Cancellation of Congress Registration:

CIRSE GmbH will not refund any registration fees in case of cancellation of the registration or change of registration category by the participant.

CIRSE GmbH however offers all pre-registered participants the possibility to take out cancellation insurance with its partner "Europäische Reiseversicherung". The insurance can only be booked during and until finalisation of the online registration process. The refund of the participant's registration fee due to cancellation of the registration or the change of registration category is only possible with a valid insurance. CIRSE GmbH itself will not refund any registration fees. All requests must be made to "Europäische Reiseversicherung" directly. Refunds will be given according to the terms and conditions of the "Europäische Reiseversicherung". CIRSE GmbH shall not be responsible for any refunds of registration fees.

Will be handled as a cancellation and new registration.
