The Harley Street Clinic has opened its new intensive care complex with comprehensive facilities for infants, children and adults.
The hospital has an international reputation for complex treatments for all ages of patients, especially in the fields of cardiac, cancer, neurosciences and spinal medicine, and it has always had extensive critical care facilities.
Two new intensive care facilities have now been opened making a total of thirteen paediatric beds and nine adult beds – all for the most critically ill patients. The hospital also has two separate five bedded paediatric and adult high dependency units for those patients who need varying levels of enhanced care but not intensive care.
This major expansion project took two years to complete and cost £5.3 million. The Chief Executive Officer of The Harley Street Clinic, Neil Buckley said, “We have been facing increasing demand for tertiary care for some years now and I am delighted that we can now welcome more patients from the UK and from overseas.”
“It has been a team effort to get this project finished on time and on budget and already we are seeing more enquiries about bringing patients here. We are very fortunate in having some of the country’s leading surgeons who have admitting privileges working together with our specialist nursing teams, it puts this hospital in a unique position in the UK private sector,” he said.
“In recent years our consultants have performed some incredible ground breaking procedures, particularly in the field of paediatric cancer and cardiac care and this can only happen in a hospital with such outstanding medical teams and the best facilities.”
