SECC Congress 2026

Welcome Address

Dear distinguished colleagues and friends,

Welcome to Taipei! On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our great honor and pleasure to welcome you to the SECC Congress 2026 Taipei, held jointly with the Annual Conference on Emergency and Critical Care. This year’s congress carries special significance for all of us. Following the official recognition of Critical Care Medicine as a board-certified specialty by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, this meeting marks the first annual congress of critical care medicine in Taiwan in this new era. It is both a milestone and a new beginning for our community.

Critical care has always been more than a single specialty. It is a discipline built upon collaboration, rapid decision-making, shared responsibility, and teamwork across professions. This year’s congress proudly continues this tradition by bringing together multiple medical specialties and professional societies, including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, dietitians, rehabilitation specialists, and other members of the critical care team. Their participation reflects the diversity, inclusiveness, and collaborative spirit that define modern critical care medicine.

We are especially grateful to the many critical care-related societies and professional organizations that have joined and supported this congress. Your commitment has made this meeting not only a scientific gathering, but also a platform for multidisciplinary integration and interprofessional partnership. Together, we aim to advance the quality, safety, and humanity of care for critically ill patients.

This year, we are privileged to welcome more than 20 international guests and distinguished experts from abroad. Through keynote lectures, scientific sessions, joint symposia, and professional exchanges, we look forward to sharing knowledge, discussing new evidence, and building lasting collaborations with colleagues from Taiwan and around the world. The publication and promotion of expert consensus, including the consensus on early rehabilitation in the intensive care unit, further demonstrate our shared commitment to translating evidence into daily clinical practice and improving patient-centered outcomes.

Beyond the academic program, we hope this congress will also provide opportunities to renew old friendships, establish new connections, and experience the warm hospitality, rich culture, and cuisine of Taiwan. In this important year for critical care medicine in Taiwan, we sincerely hope that every participant will find inspiration, friendship, and a renewed sense of mission through this congress.

The 10th Asia-Pacific Conference on ICU Early Rehabilitation, Taipei 2026 is abbreviated as 2026 APEM.

 Virtual-Only 2026 APEM Information:
Includes only the sessions held in Conference Rooms 401 and 402 on October 3, 2026, and the sessions held in Conference Room 401 on the morning of October 4, 2026.

 2026 APEM Workshop Information:

1. Participants registered for 2026 APEM are eligible to attend the workshop free of charge. The workshop will be held in the afternoon on Oct. 4, 2026,(Room 402); however, participation is limited to 75 participants.
2. Participants from LMIC countries who register for the SECC 2026 conference are eligible to attend the 2026 APEM conference free of charge; however, participation in the workshop, which will be held in the afternoon on Oct. 4, 2026, is not included.
3. If you are from an LMIC country and register for both the SECC 2026 and 2026 APEM conferences, but choose to attend only the main conference without participating in the workshop, the registration fees for both conferences will be collected in advance during registration and payment for administrative purposes. The 2026 APEM registration fee will then be refunded upon on-site check-in at the conference.
