Tradition and Future – the theme of this years Congress on Surgical Infections – where the Tradition of this society meets the Future of surgical infections. New insights in antibiotics, in multidrug resistance, in anstomotic leakages are examples for daily challenges in our hospitals all over Europe.


Over two days, the congress programme will update you with insightful presentations and Pro-Con debates by experts in the field of surgical infections.


The day before the Congress, the first SIS-E Olympics will take place in Hamburg. In this interactive workshop, young surgeons can present and defend interesting cases on surgical infections.


Hamburg as “The Gate to the World” is easy to reach from all over Europe. The Congress venue is in walking distance to the harbour and the new Elbe Philharmonic Hall. You are truly in the center of this vibrant city.


CME points will be available for the SIS-E 2017 Congress.

Travelling to Hamburg


By Plane


Hamburg Airport is located 30 minutes from congress venue by train. The Hamburg Airport Website provides information including connecting flights, up-to-the-minute flight information, and connecting transport facilities to Hamburg city centre.


By Train


Frequent trains serve regional and long-distance destinations from Hamburg. The main station is:

20099 Hamburg.


By Car


Hamburg is a hub for road traffic and is easily reached from all parts of Germany via four motorways (Autobahnen – A) and six federal trunk roads (Bundesstrassen – B).

From western Germany, the A1 leads directly to Hamburg. The A7 leads from southern Germany through the middle of the country to Hamburg. The A24 is the main motorway coming from Berlin. There is sufficient parking available in Hamburg. Most hotels have their own parking spaces and there are also plenty of car parks in the city centre as well as Park & Ride spaces at many railway stations. There is also plenty of free parking in the city districts. There is a 25% discount with the Hamburg CARD at some parking spaces – great for parking your car and continuing on public transport which is included in the card.
