UPMC, world-renowned health care provider from USA, arrived on official visit to Russia by the invitation of Michael Yugay, the CEO of the International Medical Cluster Foundation (IMC Foundation).
IMC Foundation presented to UPMC International, a division of UPMC, a concept of the Moscow International Medical Cluster (MIMC) and the parties spoke about the opportunities of medical clinic development on the territory of the MIMC and about educational programs for Russian doctors.
After the working meetings with IMC Foundation team, UPMC International was showed the first medical facility of the MIMC – diagnostic and outpatient center, – which planned to be open for patients at the beginning of the next year, and an infrastructure of the Skolkovo Innovation Center accessible for MIMC’s residents.
During the excursion around the Skolkovo IC, IMC Foundation and UPMC International held a meeting with Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) representative to converse about ways of synergy for science and clinical research projects.
UPMC International provides hands-on health care and management services with partners in 12 countries on four continents. Another division of UPMC, UPMC Enterprises, functions as the innovation and commercialization arm.

UPMC is interested in business development in Russia due to a unique legislation environment in Moscow International Medical Cluster for medical clinics from member countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). OECD-registered licenses are acknowledged within MIMC’s territory without any extra licensing required: medical protocols, medicines, medical devices and certificates for medical, educational, R&D specialists according the Federal Law “On the International Medical Cluster” №160-FZ, 2015.

The Moscow International Medical Cluster is established by the Government of Moscow on 57 hectares within the Skolkovo Innovation Center. The Government of Moscow committed to make investments in construction of pilot objects of the cluster and creation of related infrastructure. The first medical facility of the cluster – the diagnostics & outpatient center – is expected to be opened to patients in the beginning of 2018. The MIMC will also include a multi-profile hospital and more than 10 specialized clinics – centers of excellence – focused on Russia’s most critical areas, including oncology, cardiology, orthopedics, multidisciplinary rehabilitation, neurology, childhood diseases, and other.
