Medlab Middle East Welcomes Medical Professionals

Today, 3 February 2020, marks the opening of Medlab Middle East, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region’s largest medical laboratory exhibition and congress. Almost 26,000 medical laboratory industry professionals and 600 exhibitors from 35 countries are meeting at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, UAE.

The event, which runs until 6 February, is focused on transforming tomorrow’s diagnostics.

In 2019, the number of attendees Medlab Middle East grew 6%, and the worth of business done following the show exceeded €296 million ($329 million). For this year the expectations are even higher considering the forecast 3.8% growth (CAGR) of laboratory services in the MENA region until 2023.

This year the Transformation Hub has opened for the first time. It is a dedicated zone where SMEs and entrants to the market showcase their novel clinical laboratory products in areas such as automation, healthcare information technology and others. The Hub also features the Transformation Talks sessions during which new launches and solutions are demonstrated by manufacturers.

There are as well free-to-attend workshops, hosted by the National Reference Laboratory and Bio-Rad. They include Transfusion and blood typing challenges (3 February); Laboratory quality management system, the best of CLSI (4 February); and Laboratory accreditation, CAP updates (5 February).

Clinical laboratory specialists also have the opportunity to advance their skill sets during the 12 Continuing Medical Education (CME) accredited conferences, attended by over 4,500 delegates and 120 speakers from around the world. There are four new conferences in the agenda, including Blood Transfusion Medicine, Laboratory Innovation, Digital Pathology and the Roundtable Discussions. Full programme is available here.
