The European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association (EDMA) and the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFCC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which will further enhance their coordination and collaboration on numerous mutually important European policy issues, thus strengthening ties between the two organisations. The declaration was made at the First European Joint Congress of EFCC and UEMS, in Lisbon.

The partnership aims to provide a common contribution to the formulation of policies that could impact the industry in Europe, such as raising awareness of the value of IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic) testing and facilitating patients’ access to good laboratory tests. Both organisations also aim to work with the European Commission through the European Partnership for Action against Cancer. Members of the IVD industry and professional users have already successfully worked together on a number of issues, such as coordinating the launch in Europe of Lab Tests Online.
