Health care system around the world are in the midst of an historic transition. In an effort to achieve the best outcomes possible for patients, while curbing costs, stakeholders from across the health sector are actively promoting a shift to a more transparent, value-based approach to service delivery, payment, and policy. The promise is great and the momentum is strong.

In Australia and the surrounding region, there has been a groundswell of interest and activity in both the public and private sectors. Looking to get more for less, pioneering institutions are driving the value agenda by integrating outcomes measurement into clinical practice, developing the science of its implementation, and generating the evidence of its impact. But these are early days.

Recognizing the need for wider engagement and alignment to achieve the potential of value-based health care, it is my pleasure to invite you to participate in the inaugural ICHOM Australasian Forum, to be held on May 4, 2017, in Sydney. The forum is designed to spark conversation and encourage collaboration, featuring overarching plenaries from international experts and breakout sessions highlighting local perspectives and initiatives.
