After a year that has tested the world I feel it is important to start 2021 with a sense of optimism. While many of us have endured personal and professional challenges over the course of the pandemic, happier times are now very much in sight as we witness the roll out of the Covid-19 vaccine across the world.

The Board of EURETINA has considered the global outlook for the months ahead in order to decide on the best and most responsible approach for hosting the 21st EURETINA Congress. We have taken into account the great success of last year’s first virtual Congress and have been heartened by feedback received. We understand the need for early clarity to allow our contributors and supporters time to plan for the Congress. And so, with all of that in mind, it is my pleasure to announce that

EURETINA 2021 Virtual, will take place from 10-12 September 2021.

Work is underway to present a largely similar model to last year’s virtual Congress, which was well received by its 8000+ attendees. Specific details on programme and meeting format will be announced in the coming weeks and months as we also work on new features to enhance the virtual Congress experience. We will share programme updates and important deadlines through the website and social media platforms, while sponsorship opportunities will also be disclosed in the coming months.

As announced in the EURETINA Roadmap 2025, the Society has undertaken a wide-ranging digital transformation over the last six months to meet the demands and standards of a world increasingly online. We are confident that these improvements will enhance your enjoyment of our virtual congress and indeed of our full portfolio of digital resources available to our membership.
