MedCity ENGAGE is a patient engagement event that highlights innovation in healthcare.

We’ve gathered together the most innovative thinking from executives of leading hospital systems, providers, payers and others; technology entrepreneurs, doctors, patients and beyond, to discuss the latest strategies and solutions to one of healthcare’s greatest challenges: patient engagement.

The themes for this year’s event include:

High Tech + High Touch

The high tech + high touch track will highlight startups and providers who are using the right combination to help patients make informed decisions about treatment options and stay in control of their health. We’ll hear from a Medicare provider using sensors and big data to help people with COPD and public health officials who are using housing as healthcare. We’ll also look to the future and explore how Amazon’s Echo could support patient education and medication adherence.

Beyond the Doctor’s Office

What happens outside the doctor’s office is just as important as what happens inside it. Entrepreneurs, advocates and healthcare executives are finding more ways to meet people where they are – at home, at the grocery store and even at the mall. You’ll hear from innovators who are testing new ways to deliver care and follow-up education, ranging from completing physical therapy to buying health insurance.

Patient Perspective

This year our patient-centric sessions will focus on cancer. We’ll hear about how cancer affects firefighters, young women, and caregivers. Speakers will talk about how to build a life after surviving three or more bouts with cancer. An entrepreneur will explain how she is working to make innovative therapies available to everyone. These speakers will challenge the conventional wisdom about the cancer experience.
