Siemens Healthcare recently held a successful series of hands-on training workshops for clinical users at the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) Annual Meeting in Edinburgh.  The practical sessions are part of a range of workshops run by Siemens throughout the year to provide technical understanding and extend clinical knowledge to healthcare professionals.

The sessions using the ACUSON™ SC2000 diagnostic ultrasound system covered a range of subject areas including valve assessment with full volume colour flow echocardiography, right ventricular  assessment by real-time 3D echocardiography and 3D contrast enhanced stress echocardiography.  Delegates were able to gain valuable experience of using the full functionality of the SC2000 with Siemens experts providing live guidance and demonstrations.

The sessions were designed to provide clinical users with a firm understanding of the SC2000 ultrasound system and clinical procedures it can assist with within a relaxed educational environment.  The SC2000 is a versatile device capable of real-time full-volume images of the heart in a single cycle.  Live scanning was carried out on models to fully demonstrate the range of functions offered by the system and technical questions were fielded by trained Siemens experts.

“The Siemens Healthcare educational echocardiography sessions at BSE 2011 were designed to inform professionals of the latest technological advances and how these can help to improve clinical workflow and patient outcomes,” said Maarya Abwat-Johnson, Cardiac Ultrasound Applications Specialist at Siemens Healthcare.  “The SC2000 ultrasound system is an innovative tool for powerful performance and superior imaging delivering detailed information for a whole new standard of diagnostic confidence.  It can decrease volume echo examination times by up to 50 percent, compared to a traditional 2D/3D echo exam; helping to improve department workflow and patient processing times.”
