What is Emergency Medicine?

Emergency services treat medical, psychiatric, surgical and trauma emergencies for children and adults. At home or at the foot of the tree, they provide first aid and make the first diagnosis:

About SFMU

Resulting from the merger between the French-speaking Society of Emergency Medicine and Samu-Urgences de France in 2006, the French Society of Emergency Medicine (SFMU) is a learned society which brings together all the French-speaking players in care and emergency medicine: doctors, nurses, caregivers, social workers, psychologists, medical regulation assistants, ambulance drivers.

The SFMU, bringing together more than 3,000 member practitioners , aims to promote care and Emergency Medicine. Organized around a Board of Directors and 8 commissions, it aims to initiate, support and accompany any action linked to the evolution of this specialty, but also to the development of training and medical research. It is also in touch with the medico-social needs of patients and society, born from new lifestyles, demographic and sociological developments, thus fulfilling a real public health mission.
